Jose Ortiz M.D.
Dr. Jose C. Ortiz was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and has proudly called San Antonio home since 2004. He earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School and performed his Internal Medicine residency at UT Houston before moving to San Antonio to complete his final year of training at the UT Health Science Center.
My Story
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Ortiz brings more than 20 years of clinical experience caring for patients with chronic and complex medical conditions, including diabetes, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and many other chronic illnesses. The majority of his career has been spent in private practice, where he developed lasting relationships with his patients and a reputation for thoughtful, compassionate care.
Dr. Ortiz recently joined Dr. Mac’s thriving practice after choosing to leave a large local area group practice. He is known for his calm demeanor, attentive listening, and genuine commitment to his patients. His approach is centered on taking the time to understand each patient, providing personalized care, and ensuring they receive the attention and treatment they deserve.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ortiz enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as friends and family—especially when a great meal is involved. As a family, they enjoy exploring San Antonio’s food scene while continuing to prioritize healthy living, regular exercise, and optimizing daily healthy nutrition.
His favorite hobbies include traveling, reading, exercising, snowboarding, and, when time allows, playing a little golf—although he readily admits he could use a lot of improvement. An experienced snowboarder, Dr. Ortiz looks forward to making an annual trip to the mountains. He also values time spent with family and friends and believes that enjoying life, staying active, and maintaining meaningful relationships are an important part of overall well-being.
